Glasvegas - Flowers & Football Tops

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CFyP-nrlkg

Okay...I really didn't get the hype on this band when I first heard their single Geraldine. But the latest single Flowers & Football Tops made me revisit and I finally get it. Fantastic indiepop from this Scottish band and taken from their first full length self-titled LP. Unfortunately no video to embed so you need to click on the Youtube link above to get the video.

Hatcham Social - Murder In The Dark

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9Q2_Cyq838

Very eighties jangling guitar sounding track from the Hatcham Social. Supposedly Tim Burgess of Charlatans fame is helping them put together their first full length LP called You Dig The Tunnel I'll Hide The Soil on Fierce Panda Records in the UK. This Single released in the UK the week of March 9th is also on Fierce Panda Records. Quite good.

Sandy Rivera- I Can't Stop (Luca Cassani Remix)

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xr82_JI_YTA

Bumping house track off the long run UK House label Defected Records. I like the use of the one lyric in this track over nice filtered house. There's a large number of mixes out there but out of the two I have heard this is the one I like the best. No official video for this but someone has nice to create one.

Emmy the Great First Love

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dS8uy5fwfs

This is rumoured to be the second single off Emmy The Great's first album called First Love which was released last week. Fantastic indiefolkpop single. You may have heard her sing on the amazing BPA single titled Seattle (reviewed back on November 29). Emma Lee-Moss was born in Hong Kong and ended up moving as a child to London.

School of Seven Bells - Iamundernodisguise

Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1An2pjS4mKE

School of Seven Bells is a three-piece band formed by Benjamin Curtis of Secret Machines, together with identical twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza. They supposedly met when each others bands were opening for Interpol. I have no video for the new single released in the UK this week and it isn't on their myspace as of yet. So to get you interested in how great this band sounds I've attached their First video Half Asleep which is fantastic. Both tracks are from there first album Alpinisms off the Full Time Hobby record label.

Asobi Seksu - Familiar Light

Brand new single from Asobi Seksu (Japanese for casual sex) who are based out of New York. A Shoegazing fuzzy guitar band who are about to release their 3rd album called Hush. We reviewed the first single Me and Mary on December 1. The second single is released in the UK this week and is called Familiar Light. Great track but unfortunately no video for it. You will need to hit their myspace to listen to it. Very etherial, Cocteau Twinish sounding.

The Joy Formidable - Cradle

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W66yhfMb4d0

Punk Pop from the UK by The Joy Formidable. The Trio is now located in London but hail originally from North Wales. They use to go by the moniker of Sidecar Kisses but ended dropping their bassist and changed their drummer. This is their second single. An 8 track LP is due out soon called A Balloon Called Moaning. The first single Austere is quite catchy too. Check the video for Cradle out below

Saint Etienne Method Of Modern Love

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi0OvJkLiww

Saint Etienne jump back into chart action with their Valentine's track Method Of Modern Love. No, it isn't a cover of the classic pop smash by Hall and Oates if you were thinking that. Brand new single which will end up on the bands 4th Greatest Hits package London Conversations released this week in the UK. Unfortunately this smash pop hit comes crashing into the UK Sales chart at only number 56 this week. Technically, a track that should be up there at the top of the charts with Lily Allen and Lady Gaga.

Unfortunately the track was only available in small quantities from one online shop, one UK record retailer; had really little publicity; and had no video so no surprise the Etienne's are denied a Top 40 hit once again. Great Track though.

Please find a fan made video on youtube below

Crystal Stilts Prismatic Room

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMl-a09kp2o

Not sure if this is the A-Side or the B-side but its an excellent track and has a video. The other track on this 7 inch is called Departure but I really can't find it anywhere on the web. This is a very nice indie hipie low tempo track from the Crystal Stilts. Nice droning shoegazing pop song from this New York band off of Slumberland Records.

James Yuill No Surprise

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l0p1d01P9s

This is the second time I have featured a James Yuill track on the site. James is a English musician from London, currently signed to the Moshi Moshi record label. Very mellow downtempoish indieelectronicpop. Seems like he has signed with Nettwerk for release in North America. Watch James perform for his friends for his full length video for the song below

WaVVes - So Bored

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF9Tu35-pBo

Based out of San Diego, California, WaVVes is the project of Nathan Williams. Pretty cool. Listened to the rest of his available tracks on Myspace which didn't do much for me. However, this track is fantastic. Check this out!! Very Noisy melodic garage track with wails for added effect. Interesting Video also which really has nothing to do with the song.

Appaloosa -The Day (We Fell In Love)

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97rJA-VmlPk

Slow starting indiepop downtempo song so if you have the patience it takes off at around the 1 minute mark of the video. Again, another act with little info on the web about them/her. Off the Kitsune label out of France. Went to the Labels page and also couldn't really find anything let one sentence or picture on this 12 Inch release. Supposedly Todd Edwards mixes of this are around (see youtube) but this is the mix I like:

Telepathe - So Fine

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Un5SJ1aAGM

Brooklyn's answer to Ladytron. This is a track taken from Telepathe's first LP Dance Mother. Can't really tell you much about this outfit. Their official website so far has one page which features the video of this song. Their Myspace page doesn't say much more. But the track is great.

Florence And The Machine - Dog Days Are Over

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0ZPTFfpO40

On First Listen wasn't too excited about this track but it was a slow grower. Maybe a little Kate Bush sounding. Quite a unique sound in my opinion. FLorence and the Machine is Florence Welch and her backing band. This is her second single which was released on December 1st. Her first single was a track called Kiss With a Fist. Her latest single is a cover of the Candi Staton track from 1986 called You Got the Love. It was only released as a download in January. Album will be released early this year.
