BPA Toe Jam Contest

Okay...if you have been reading this blog you know I am a huge fan of the BPA. I've been informed that the album is out in February. BPA of course is Norman Cook aka ex-Housemartin, ex-Beats International, Fatboy Slim etc etc etc. The first single was Toejam which featured Talking Heads Pete Byrne and Dizzie Rascal on vocals. The video was amazing. However, Norman's got a contest going on right now that lets you submit a new video for Toejam and compete for fame and glory. Actually I'm not really sure of the prize but it looks like fun. Currently 2 videos have been submitted. The Pop Waffle submission is pretty amazing. Check it out at the contests website hosted by Dailymotion:

Best of 2008

Happy Holidays from Indie Kid Vs Dance Kid. You will have noticed that the postings have slowed during the cold season. Probably has to do with the slowdown of releases by the record industry than my busy schedule at work.

Below I share with you our Top Records of the year. Its been another fine year of stellar bands, singles, videos, and albums. Heres looking to 2009

In no particular order although Sonny J is definately my favourite

Sonny J - Disastro
Those Dancing Days - In Our Space Hero Suits
Santogold-Santogold
Raveonettes - Lust Lust Lust
Ladyhawke - Ladyhawke
lykke li - Youth Novels
Mystery Jets - Twenty One
Estelle - Shine
Pop Levi - The Return To Form Black Magick Party
Blood Red Shoes - Box Of Secrets
nick cave - Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!

And although the BPA don't have an album out yet former Housemartin Norman Cook is once again brilliant with his project Brighton Port Authority and the tracks Toejam and Seattle

Brute Chorus Grow Fins

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTgulYx50tk

Catchy raw track from this UK indierock band. This is their second single and was released a short while back. If you like this they release a third single called She Was Always Cool in the UK on Monday. Maybe an album out soon to? Want to know more about this band. Check out the 8 minute video clip on Youtube which follows the band around their home, studio and alcohol collection.

Happy Mondays Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out)

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TAS0WHWlOA

I remember buying this record on Boxing Day at Record Peddler back in 1987 for 99 cents on vinyl on sale. I was lukewarm to the Mondays back then but now revisiting this album 20 years later all I can say is wow. The obvious hit here is 24 Hour Party People which was the main track for the soundtrack for the movie of the same name. Tart Tart was the first single off the album but the big track for me is Oasis. Inspirational. The Mondays were never as big as they were supposed to be and they were rumoured to be the catalyst for the crash of Factory Records. But looking back they did create some history with 4 great albums. They did make an effort to come back with a new album in 2007, 15 years after their previous album but I have never heard it. Anyone got an opinion on Uncle Dysfunktional?

Still Flyin - Good Thing Its A Ghost Town Around Here

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXBH9OWgALc

Catchy song from this San Francisco band. Sorta reminds me of Los Campesinos. Nice. Issued on Moshi Moshi Records.

Friday, December 5, 2008

George Pringle - LCD I love you but you're bringing me down

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFJ6xYu5V9U

Low-fi beat pop. Great single by George Pringle. Strange Video that takes two minutes to kick into the actual single. Vocalist breaks into a Siouxsiesque banter by the end. Ace.

Asobi Seksu - Me & Mary

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrlC0-P2nWM

Great droning buzz shoegazer pop music from this US indie band. This is taken from their forthcoming 3rd album.

Santogold - Say Aha

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrscGhpM_QA

I can't say enough about her self-titled album. This is the fifth single off the album. A very catchy bouncy single at that. The album easily floats into my top 20 records of 1998 if not top 10. Very good indieraggadubsoul music.

The BPA - Seattle Feat. Emmy The Great

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-Tz2kI_4mU

Very nice single by Brighton Port Authority off Southern Fried Records. Norman Cook at his best as always. Nice downtempo pop single and the followup to Toejam. Features vocals by Emmy The Great. Fantastic. Hopefully there is an album soon.

Friday, November 28, 2008

Nick Harrison - Something Special

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU1x8PEtSj0

Twangy British Pop music, Nineties style. Its okay. Doesn't do alot for me though. No embedding aloud on this video. Here Today, Gone Tomorrow. Click above for the youtube video.

Everything Everything - Suffragette Suffragette

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFM_kTAYVsU

Nice track from this UK band. Lyrics are alittle odd. Very catchy stuff though. Sounds alittle worldy. This could be my single of the week.

The pains of being pure at heart - everything with you

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLVrTruj_Aw

What a track. 80s reminiscent dreamy low-fi buzzpop. New York band out on Fortuna Pop. Nice surprise for a Sunday morning. Think Lush, Velocity Girl, Pastels, etc etc etc. I'm sold.

Sunday, November 23, 2008

Christian Falk Ft Robyn - Dream On

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypQtJ8z6q5o

Typical pop track from Robyn but what I find interesting is the marketing technique being used today by the majors to sell records. This is a brand new single, fairly catchy powerful one in my opinion, that gets included on the re-issued full length of Robyn with 3 other extra tracks just in time for Christmas. As noted below, Duffy did this also with her new single. Does it work? Released on Data Records in the UK

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Raveonettes-Blushed

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtaxpCCKFy0

Great new track from buzz/distortion band the Raveonettes taken from their latest album Lust Lust Lust. No video available as of yet. Its released as a 7 inch in the UK on Fierce Panda.

Friday, November 21, 2008

Skint & Demoralised - The Thrill of Thirty Seconds

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaE5bxoUK_Y

Catchy pop tune from this major label signing. The duo supposedly met on Myspace and began to collaborate. Someone must not like them as their wiki page was deleted after a proposed deletion tag was added. The reason given was no real assertion of notability. Oh, and if anyone can tell me what he is showing everyone in this video it would be greatly appreciated.

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Sneaky Sound System - UFO 2008

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DndO0odK-uc

Fantastic indie clubby track from Sneaky Sound System, an Australian band who have been quite big in their own country. This was out in 2007 but gets the UK release a year later. Taken from the album 2. Eighties New Wave bubblegum pop rejuvenated.

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Grammatics - The Vague Archive

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1C7A1DghEQ

Great indiepop single from this UK band out of Leeds. Refreshing pop single with lush orchestration. Definately one of the better things I've heard in awhile. on an indie label called Dance To The Radio.

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

The Charlatans - Oh Vanity

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmxHIklXnQU

Excellent new single from the Charlatans latest album You Cross My Path. Alot of people have panned this album but this single only demonstrates why they are all wrong and need to go back and listen one more time. Released on Cooking Vinyl.

Monday, November 17, 2008

Verve - Rather Be

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1v1m4DhucY

I didn't realize this was the Verve's first album in over 10 years. The album is called Forth and this is the second single. I actually don't mind this track. Alot better than the first single Love Is Noise which was released back in August.

Sunday, November 16, 2008

Duffy - Rain On Your Parade

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Cfu9ojyCJw

New single that wasn't even available on the original version of Rockferry but made it onto the deluxe re-release of the album out this week in Europe. Catchy dramatic from Duffy and the fifth single to be released. Good song to keep selling the Rockferry release with into the holiday season.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Stricken City - Lost Art

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL3w8_zkSCg

Solid second single from this UK band released on Blue Flower Records next week. Melodic indiepop with female vocals. This is the followup to another single that I reviewed on IKDK called Tak O Tak.

For more on this band check out their myspace http://www.myspace.com/strickencity

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Manda Rin - Guilty Pleasure

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3dOznS0BT8

Brand new single by Manda Rin (formerly of Bis) taken from her solo Album My DNA. More disco fused pop from Manda off ThisIsFakeDIY Records. This is the follow up to the first single DNA.

Levellers Burn America Burn

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heq-7CSbKa0

Catchy new single from UK band the Levellers. The band has been around for 20 years and is still putting out quality stuff.

Saturday, November 8, 2008

Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9KnuJZkBjg

Classic club song from 1990. 18 years after and the djs dust off the old track with new remixes. Very catchy club track utilizes the old horn track to make this a great retro futuristic club track. The vocals of the original are replaced here with completely new vocals. Fredde Le Grand stomping beats fill the background. Slammin track.

Sam Taylor-Wood: I'm in love with a German film star

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL2zOo3Khws

Pet Shop Boys produced single by Sam Taylor-Wood. Its a cover of the classic track by eighties indie new wave band The Passions. I'm still partial to the original from 1981 but this ain't too bad. Check out both versions below and vote for which one you like best.

Aimee Mann 31 Today

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqOcADEZSxI

Never really new much about Til Tuesday and never really followed the career of Aimee Mann but this is a nice song. Very indie sit by the fireplace type of sounding song. This is the second single off her 2008 CD @#%&*! Smilers. Odd video too.

Saturday, November 1, 2008

The View - 5Rebbeccas

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM25965LbTw

New single from The View off their soon to be released second LP called Which Bitch. Catchy slice indierock from the UK off the 1965 Record label. Unfortunately don't have an embedded link for this one so you will need to click on the youtube link above to get the video.

Roots Manuva - Let The Spirit

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wI4_aNDLiI

Good Hip Hop tune from UK rapper Roots and third single taken from his sixth release Slime & Reason.

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Girls Aloud - The Promise

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7TkyzvXLdo

Awful video. But catchy song from Girls Aloud. Sorta chasing the Duffy sound while keeping their pop side intact. Girls Aloud is a group that was formed through a TV contest called Popstars in 2002. Hard to believe this is their 6th album. The girls shoot out an album a year. This is their 19th top 10 hit in the UK and hit number 1.
This is the first single off the new album Out of Control which even has the Pet Shop Boys writing the music for one of the track.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Dears - Money Babies (Double Shot Tuesday)

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58X68rQ4GJE

First single off the fourth album by Canadian band The Dears. The album Missiles is being issued on Dangerbird Records out of Los Angeles California. Nice droning indiepop track from the band who supposedly by the end of recording the album had been whittled down to 2 members. Rock N Roll.

The Last Shadow Puppets - My Mistakes Were Made For You (Double Shot Tuesday)

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtAfZcax7uU

Musically teminds me alittle bit like Mono. The Last Shadow Puppets is a project of Alex Turner of the band Arctic Monkeys, Miles Kane of the band The Rascals. This is their 3rd single off the debut The Age of the Understatement. A soundtrack to a sixties spy movie.

Monday, October 27, 2008

NEiLS CHiLDREN - I'm Ill

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSXn5cqO5t8

Great indiepop circa eighties sounding single from Neils Children released on their own label Structurally Sound Records. The band have been releasing singles for about 6 years now and have even been issued on Alan Mcgee's Poptones label. Their second album is TBA but might be worth looking out for based on the strength of this jangily guitar pop single.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

A Place To Bury Strangers - I Know I'll See You

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFa4a56j52o

Tones On Tail/Jesus and The Mary Chain alternative eighties sounding track taken from their self-titled debut album. The band is from New York City and have been releasing music since 2006.

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Sky Larkin - Fossil, I

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3leFQjJAW3E

A great track by a band called Sky Larkin out of Leeds, UK. A nice indiepop droning sound. No album as of yet. Just some singles and a ep. This is the first single of the Wichita Record label and sounds very polished in comparison to the early singles.

RIP The Long Blondes Guilt

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmncxVG-QxQ

I was reviewing Tricky Ricky's (of Panic Manual fame) music collection just recently and came across a Long Blondes collection called Singles. Singles? The band has only released 2 CDs and they have a greatest hits collection? I did some investigation and have discovered that this is their first record label Angular Recording Corporation putting out a compilation of early, pre-Rough Trade singles. The CD includes the A & B-sides of our first four singles, and some bonus tracks. Sounds exciting.

Unfortunately, I also discovered that the band has called it quits too. Dorian, one of the members of the band, had a stroke in June and does not know when he will be well enough to play guitar again. Official news was on their website as of October 19, 2008.

Here is the bands last single which was released in June called Guilt and was taken from their second and maybe final album Couples released on Rough Trade Records.

Great band and a sad day for Pop Music.

Submarines You Me & The Bourgeoisie

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYvt0boSRXQ

The Submarines sound slightly like The Cardigans circa 2000+. Catchy song which is supposedly being used to promote the Iphone or something like that. The band are signed to Nettwerk Records. Definately a nice pop tune. This is taken from their 2008 release Honeysuckle Weeks. The band is from Los Angeles.

Keane The Lovers Are Losing

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3L4SKfVx1Q

Definately an 80s sounding track. After buying Keane's first album Hopes And Fears I never got to hear their follow up Under The Iron Sea. Might need to go back and revisit that one. This is the second single off their new album Perfect Symmetry. Its even an eighties sounding title for an album. I don't even remember listening to the first single off this album when it came out a couple months back called Spiralling. The lovers are Losing is pretty good though.

Monday, October 20, 2008

The Rascals - I'll Give You Sympathy

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6TCfJWybfM

Indie Kid Vs Dance Kid's answer to Oasis out on Deltasonic Records in the UK. This is the third single taken from the debut album Rascalize. Lead singer Miles Kane has a second band, The Last Shadow Puppets, with Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, in which he shares vocals with Turner.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

MGMT - Kids

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWPK52Si3iI

Third single from MGMT off their spectacular Oracular Spectacular album. New York band making waves all over the world. Not much to say here other than brilliant.

SASH! Feat. Stunt - Raindrops (Encore Une Fois)

New Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhs2dxZorfw

Original Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zN5MXP4aRc

Instrumental classic club track from 1996 and is reissued by Hard 2 Beat Records with Cascada type vocals . I still personally prefer the original but a nice tribute to the classic.

Wild Beasts - Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants

Domino Records Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bW6USsmR70
Bad Sneakers Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6Z1ABZ1iQU

Reissue of their first single. Wild Beasts are an indiepop band from the UK. This is their second single to be issued from their debut album Limbo Panto on Domino Records. The singer's falsetto voice is definately unique and it might take a few listens of the album to get use to. There are two videos below. The original one that went along with the Bad Sneakers Records release back in 2006 and the re-release in 2008 by Domino Records

Mia-Paper Planes

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sei-eEjy4g

Old song..the album Kala, her second, has been out for a year now. But here it is, released as a single by XL Recordings. This is the massive hit that has sent British singer Mia into massive stardom. Question is what took everyone so long to figure it out.

CSS - Move

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGS3s3FZz_g

Just a quick note before we get to the review. Indie Kid Vs Dance Kid's sister blog Panic Manual is holding a special event at the Tap (517 Bloor Street West, Toronto) on Friday night. IKDK will be there and will definately make our best attempt to hijack the dj booth to water down the Suede and Pulp with some Sonny J. Visit their blog for more details.

New single from the brilliant Brazillian band Cansei de Ser Sexy off their 2nd album Donkey. Fun quirky bouncing eighties sounding song. CSS will make a stop off in Toronto for a show at the Opera House. Definately a band with lots of energy and worth seeing in concert. The new single features remixes by the Cut Copy crew and a funky Frankmusik dub.

Kaiser Chiefs-Never Miss a Beat

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wz40P1hFvWs

Canada, did you vote? I Did!

The Kaiser Chiefs busted onto the scene in 2004 with the release of two singles Oh My God and I Predict A Riot. The took the UK by storm and made a splash over here (Canada) in 2005 with some major label support for their full length Employment. I remember catching a fairly entertaining show at The El Mocambo but alas couldn't completely buy into the hype. A couple of years later they dropped another album Yours Truly, Angry Mob with some nice highlites. Its 2008 and the band is back with a fantastic single due off their forthcoming LP Off with Their Heads. Its definately got some ska going on and is reminiscent of the eighties movement. Fantastic.

Monday, October 13, 2008

The Tough Alliance - Neo Violence

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJhXLZwhZEY

My friend Laura mentioned these guys awhile back. This is a catchy tribal house tinged indiepop track. Taken from their 2007 album, A New Chance, I'm thinking this might be a reissue 12 Inch with maybe new mixes? Very Eighties sounding. The band are from Gothenburg, Sweden.

Sunday, October 12, 2008

Foals - Olympic Airways

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ3oIGHMYP8

Great single and fourth to be taken from their first album Antidotes which was released in March. The album on a whole by this UK band is fantastic. Indierock. They are signed to the transgressive label out of Europe and Subpop in North America.

The Courteeners - That Kiss

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anImT0C0fo0

Nice single that doesn't seem to be on their debut album St Jude which was recently released. Courteeners are an english band from Manchester which we profiled back in April. Another song perfect for the chilling fall weather.

Eight Legs - These Grey Days

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4L9koQ-B7k

UK Indiepop track from the Eight Legs out on Weekender Records. Maybe named after the Doctor Who characters?

Friday, October 10, 2008

James Yuill - This Sweet Love

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPkfFv_aJsA

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile. Work has been crazy amd 70 hour weeks don't really leave alot of time for much. Thank goodness Thanksgiving Weekend here in Canada is a 2 day weekend. This is a nice indiepop track from James Yuill. He is signed by Moshi Moshi. Don't know much more. Perfect for the fall weather.

Attic Lights-Wendy

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKASliPe_B8

4th single from the album Friday Night Lights. You can read about the first 3 if you do a search on this site. Nice 4th single. It even has remixes of it done by Camera Obscura, Vaselines, Fratellis. Would like to hear what they did on this. Unfortunately the band's record label won't let me embed the video into the site so you will need to click above to get it. Good album.

It Hugs Back - Work Day

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEzjMbI9cII

Fantastic new single from this new signing to the always fantastic 4AD label. Great peaceful indiepop track. They have no album as of yet but have released a number of singles off various labels including Too Pure. This is a 7 Inch release out in the UK this week. A very sensible pop track

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Bjork - Dull Flame Of Desire

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWV4N-ZcDJg

A sweeping epic duet from Sugarcube Bjork and Antony, lead singer of Antony and the Johnsons. Video is done by the three runner ups to some other video contest of Bjork. Each got a 1/3 of the video for this song. Neat stuff. This is the 5th single taken from Bjork's sixth studio album Volta. After hearing this track I'm thinking I have to revisit Volta for another listen.

The Streets - Everything Is Borrowed

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8BHL5SWX0Q

Talk about a new single by Oasis? Why bother when versatile Uk rapper Mike Skinner releases a classic, the self titled track from his 4th album Everything is Borrowed.

Friday, October 3, 2008

The All New Adventures Of Us - Firetruck Doki Doki

Video: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=MnXQVSLzB1I

Catchy indiepop track with horns from this very young looking UK band who goes by the shortform version Tanaou. Signed to One Little Indian. Supposedly a collective of seven musicians. First album is due out in October called BEST LOVED GOODNIGHT TALES. Champion it!!

Thursday, October 2, 2008

Carbon/Silicon - The News

Video: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=CUwVT_zX3hM

Mick Jones of the Clash/Big Audio Dynamite and Tony James of Generation X. Great track in the same vein as of BAD. Mick is definately getting old but good that he can still kick it old skool. Funny...this single was released back in 2007 but gets rereleased again this year with a video. Who knows why.

Max Tundra - Will Get Fooled Again

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKGHyRdBkEU

Okay. I'm a huge fan of Domino Records and they don't seem to ever go wrong. This is a single by Max Tundra. He has been around for awhile. Very interesting but doesn't completely win me over. Max (ben Jacobs) started his music career by issuing a track off the famed Warp label back in 1998 before going on to releasing 2 albums on Domino. This is the first single off his third release Parallax Error Beheads You which is released in October. Interesting Quirky Electro indiepop.

Spiritualized - You Lie You Cheat

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-24DiDbCU0

Noisy sixties inspired Jesus and the Mary Chain type drone from Spiritualized. Second single taken from their new CD Songs in A and E. Organ crazy track and a video which will make you dizzy if you watch it for too long. Good track!!!

Saturday, September 27, 2008

White Lies - Death

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U15hUqK-Mdk

Catchy little song. Reminds me of something but I can't really place it. Maybe something eighties like. Rumour is that there is a Crystal Castles remix floating around too. Band is based in the UK. They have just finished up recording their debut album in Belgium and this is their second single. They are signed to Fiction Records.

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Ladytron-Runaway

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oapx4GjuLk8

Absentee - Boy, Did She Teach You Nothing

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHDjXkIOdpk

Nice indiepop track and first single taken from their forthcoming 2nd album called Victory Shorts released on Monday. The UK band based our of London are signed to indie label Memphis Industries. For some reason the vocals remind me of Lloyd Cole but I'm probably way way off.

Saturday, September 20, 2008

James Doman - Everything's Gonna Be Alright

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2lvy3LjXro

Fantastic club track out on the Positiva label last week. James Doman is a Canadian dj (yeah Canada). The track samples the classic house track by Ce Ce Rogers called Someday which was released in the late eighties and also worth tracking down. Word is that he dj's superclub Circa here in Toronto to crowds of 3500. Not a surprise based on the quality of this track.

Friday, September 19, 2008

The Chemists - Something For The Weekend

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sorjt38z6cI

Catchy etherial alt-indie rock track from this British band. Don't really have any more details other than that. This is their first single which was released in the UK this week. Their facebook page is no more than an advertisement for this single and their myspace page doesn't say much more.

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Ladyhawke - Dusk Till Dawn

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUyuEyVb6KU

What at first sounded it was going to be a 80's rock anthem turns into a bouncy indiepop track from Ladyhawke. A catchy follow up to the fantastic single Paris is Burning. The debut from this Australian singer is due out on Modular Records this month. She coined herself after the 1985 fantasy film starring Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer. Ladyhawke currently resides in the UK

Sonny J : Can't Stop Moving

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8Y8XpFtLbk

I am dying to get a copy of this album. Sonny J is absolutely brilliant. This is his first single from 2007 but is re-released this week. Weird Bizarre club/indie devil music. Sounds like a clash between the Go-Team and Michael Jackson. Check out the other singles by searching for Sonny J on this blog.

David Holmes - I Heard Wonders

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwCBDF4robA

More indierock than electronica, David Holmes is back with a very cool single called I Heard Wonders. Droning guitars, swirling keyboards. Definately alittle different. Great track.

Neon Glitter Bliss Wilted Flower

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9fD5Q2J6cQ

Just a excerpt from the video from this New York Band. The band contacted the Blog and directed me to their myspace. Catchy track. Not sure what is out there to buy yet. Video is alittle strange but heh...the music is great. Reminds me of an upbeat Tahiti 80.

Lykke Li - Breaking It Up

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoQQ6Qed024

New single from Lykke Li. Lykke seems to be getting a push over in North America. The press over here have started to review the CD as I guess some major label has just handed out the free promo review copies for the full length Youth Novels. Although the CD was officially released months ago in her native country. When will the newspapers get current and start previewing discs before they are released. Why does one need a promo copy to review a disc. Get with it Now, Eye, Exclaim, Toronto Sun, Metro, etc etc.

Alphabeat - Boyfriend

Video 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HcnCusaFwk
Video 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqM6oLM63YE

The Danish band 4th pop single. The album has been out for awhile in Denmark but go repackaged and issued in the IK just recently. Catchy bubblegum pop. I have posted two different videos. One from 2007 and one for the re-release of the single in the UK in 2008. Both are fairly ordinary videos. Nothing spectacular. Great track
